The Franklin Mills Mall is so large that shoppers can spend hours at the mall being entertained while they catch superb shopping deals.

Simon Property Group, headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, opened the Franklin Mills Mall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania's Bucks County in 1989. As noted at their official website, Simon Property Group is “the largest publicly traded retail real estate operating company in North America.” The company employs about 5,000 people.

Named about Benjamin Franklin, the mall covers 1.7 million square feet. Approximately 200 stores are located throughout the mall that also offers visitors a 14-screen movie theatre.

Broken up into color zones, stores are relatively easy to locate inside the mall because the shopping center is equipped with large, easy to read and understand site directories that are strategically placed throughout the mall. The blue entrance to the mall, where an image of a lightning bolt is located at the top of the building, is near store outlets like JC Penney’s and Neiman Marcus.

Significant price cuts and shopping deals can be found year round, on any day of the week at the outlet stores. It is a reason that consumers travel on group buses and in their individual automobiles to shop at the Franklin Mills Mall. The start of school and weeks leading up to Christmas and other winter holidays are heavy traffic times at the mall.

Specialty stores and retailers set up transportable stands in the center of the mall’s corridors from November through December to offer additional gift items to shoppers. Modell’s, Foot Locker, the Nike Store and Reebok are top sports and athletic outlets located at the mall.

Local residents often visit the Franklin Mills Mall to catch a movie at one of the 14 screens at the mall’s AMC Theatre. Hit movies like Disney’s A Christmas Carol, Michael Jackson’s This Is It and Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry’s Precious show year round on one of the 14 movie screens at the mall.

Across the street from the Franklin Mills Mall is a WalMart and a Pathmark grocery store. Outside the mall and as close as a five minute walk away are additional restaurants like Pizza Hut, Arby’s, Boston Market and Taco Bell. Bus routes run to and from the mall throughout the day into the evening. Hotels like Red Roof Inn, Holiday Inn and the Hilton Garden Inn are within a 15 mile driving distance of the mall.

Sports and entertainment fans can meet their favorite athletic heroes, singers and actress during autograph signings scheduled at the mall. Actress Vanessa Hudgens appeared at the mall to conduct an autograph signing before the movie she co-starred in, “Bandslam,” hit theatres in August 2009. Members of the local National Football League (NFL) team have signed autographs at the mall to kick off the new football season.

The mall is located at 1455 Franklin Mills Circle, within several blocks of nearby entrances to Interstate 95 and Route 1, two of the main thoroughfares in the city. The massive shopping mall is open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:30 p.m. Stores at the mall are open on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.
